Position Summary

We are seeking a professional, self-motivated Delivery Driver who embodies work excellence and serves as the face of Vanderwaal Bakery to our valued customers. This role combines independent work, customer service, and operational support, making it perfect for someone who enjoys variety, takes initiative, and wants to grow with our mission-driven company. You'll ensure our wholesome products reach customers safely while representing our values of excellence and service.

1. Customer-Facing Excellence and Professional Representation

What Success Looks Like:

  • Serve as a professional ambassador for Vanderwaal Bakery at every customer interaction
  • Communicate clearly and courteously with customers during deliveries
  • Handle customer questions, concerns, or special requests with grace and competence
  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor 
  • Build positive relationships that enhance customer loyalty and satisfaction

Measurable Outcomes:

  • Receive positive customer feedback 
  • Zero customer complaints regarding driver professionalism or service
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills in all customer interactions
  • Successfully resolve minor delivery issues independently and professionally

2. Delivery Operations and Route Management

What Success Looks Like:

  • Plan and execute efficient delivery routes to maximize time and fuel efficiency
  • Safely operate delivery truck and trailer, including confident backing and maneuvering
  • Load and unload bread crates with proper technique to prevent damage
  • Ensure all orders are accurately packed and match customer order forms
  • Maintain delivery vehicle in clean, safe, and professional condition

Measurable Outcomes:

  • Complete all scheduled deliveries within designated timeframes
  • Maintain clean driving record with zero incidents or violations
  • Achieve 99% order accuracy rate (correct products to correct customers)
  • Demonstrate proficiency in truck and trailer operation within first 30 days

3. Order Preparation and Accuracy

What Success Looks Like:

  • Verify orders against electronic records using basic computer skills
  • Assist with packaging and order preparation to ensure timely departures
  • Take initiative to prep orders efficiently and identify potential issues early
  • Cross-check order forms with actual products to prevent delivery errors
  • Support production team with packaging tasks as needed to meet delivery schedules

Measurable Outcomes:

  • Zero order discrepancies or missing items attributed to prep errors
  • Complete order preparation tasks within established timeframes
  • Demonstrate competency with electronic order systems within 60 days
  • Show measurable improvement in prep efficiency over time

  • Work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high standards

Required Qualifications

  • Age: Minimum 21 years old (insurance requirement)
  • Driving: Clean driving record and comfortable operating truck with small trailer
  • Physical: Ability to lift and carry bread crates (up to 50 lbs) repeatedly
  • Communication: Excellent verbal communication and customer service skills
  • Character: Professional demeanor and high degree of integrity
  • Flexibility: Adaptability to varying schedules and seasonal demands
  • Independence: Self-motivated with strong initiative and problem-solving skills
  • Technology: Basic computer skills for accessing electronic order records

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous delivery or customer service experience
  • Commercial driving experience (not required but beneficial)
  • Experience with route planning and logistics
  • Interest in food production or bakery operations
  • Demonstrated leadership potential and desire for career growth

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift, carry, and stack bread crates weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Comfortable standing, walking, and climbing in and out of delivery vehicle
